Chris Webber Dealt To The 76ers

AI, CWebb, and Rodney Rogers all on the same team! Yes, the Sixers FINALLY made a great deal. They are on their way to the playoffs as a much stronger and more confident team. They played their first game together last night and although they lost, you could just feel the excitement in the air.
The Wachovia Center was sold out and the fans opened their arms to the man that they call CWebb. You see, Philadelphia fans know a good thig when we see it. We came out strong last night and represented. The game almost had a perfect ending too. Allen missed the second free throw, the rebound comes off long to Chris and he puts up the shot.....the shot misses, but the fact that the last rebound was in the hands of Chris Webber to win the game only speaks volumes of things yet to come.

Got me

Ok, so I was so proud of myself because I had NOT gotten sick this season. That is until this week. The cold got me! Oh no, I knew that something was up. I was at a high school championship basketball game when I realized my throat was a little "scratchy." I ignored it because I refused to think that I was getting sick. By the time the game was over, I had convinced myself that my throat felt that way from all of the screaming and hollering I did, ya know, couldn't hold myself back from the excitement. Besides the referees were awful so I had to start getting loud.
Anyway, that was Sunday and today is Wednesday and each day I have felt a little worse. Last night my ear started aching. Today, I just felt achy all over and now I have a cough and my nose is running! I cannot afford to have a cold. I have been complaining to my family. They all said that I need to gargle and drink some hot tea. Have I done it? Of course not! Its too much fun complaining to them and waiting to see what other concoctions they can come up with for me to try. LOL. We'll see what course this cold takes and how I choose to battle it.

Allen Iverson - All Star MVP

Last night the East finally beat the West again in the NBA All Star game 125-115. I wasn't intending to watch the game. I had the TV on just for background noise as I was reading ESPN the magazine. I looked up several times to see that someone had just slammed or that the West was running a fastbreak. After several times of doing this, I noticed that the game was just that...a game. The score was not a blowout and the teams were actually playing defense.
I though to myself that I had better focus on this game. It could be a good one. Then I heard some of the commentators saying that AI might get the nod for MVP if the East wins. Just then my competitive juices started flowing and I was fully in tuned to the game. Good thing too because Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter (although I am not a fan of his per se) made two incredible plays. Albeit passes to themselves for slam dunks. The only reason I liked it was because you never get to see plays like that except for in these type of situations. I continued to watch and pull for the East. Then the end of the festivities er, uh, I mean game, came and yes, AI was the MVP. Funny, or should I say ironic, how that the last time the East won, AI was MVP then as well. I think he deserved it. Congrats go out to AI. He is really playing the best basketball of his career in my opinion this year. I also must mention that I was proud because he is on my hometown team....LET'S GO Sixers !!!

Eagle Spotting

Went to the Mall today and thought that the parking lot was extremley crowded. Didn't think much of it until I saw the line of people wrapped around the whole side of JC Penney's and Macy's. Now it was freezing out so I was thinking that it must be something important. I saw mothers out there with their kids wrapped in blankets, people camped out in chairs, people eating the usual Mall fare, and of course people just standing there looking like they were frozen in the spot that they were standing in. Then my observation button kicked in.....most of the people had on Eagles gear!!! Hmmmm...must mean that one of the Philadelphia Eagles is there to sign autographs. I am soooo smart!!! Sure enough I spotted Brian Westbrook sitting at a table in one of the sports stores.
Two hours later and he was still signing. He didn't look at all dazed or tired. I would have writer's cramp after all that signing! The sad part is that I think the fans had to pay something to get a ticket to stand in line for his autograph. What happened to the good old days when athletes would sign a piece of paper, a shirt, a pair of sneakers, or whatever the fan had with him or her at the time (my Dad once had Charles Barkley sign a five dollar bill because that was all he could get his hands on at the time)? Does everything have to cost money?????

Changes

As you can see, I changed the template. I thought that the other one was too boring. I am working on learning some HTML so that I can add some customized things and make this site a little more my style. It will probably take me awhile, so please be patient and come back often.

NBA All-Star Weekend

Since I don't really care for the actual All-Star game that is played on Sunday, I can't wait to watch the 3-point contest and the slam dunk contest that will be shown on Saturday. I hope LeBron James enters the dunk contest. I heard earlier that he was thinking about not doing it. I think he could display some good dunks and give the others a run for their money. Of course no one can do it like they did it back in the day...the days with Dr J. and Michael Jordan and let me go waaaaaayyyyy back, remember when Dominque Wilkins was throwing down the dunks!! Oh, yes! Those were the days.

Since Kyle Korver is the hometown boy representing in the 3-point contest, I am pulling for him. Although I think that he might have some problems. I noticed that he shoots better when he is on the run...seems that his release is more consistent when he has to shoot quickly, not just set and shoot as is customary in the 3-point contest. Oh well, he still has my vote.

Watched Charles Barkley last night on Jay Leno. Charles is and always has been my boy. I remember EXACTLY where I was when he was traded.....sitting in my livingroom in the rocking chair staring at the paper in disbelief. If someone walked into my house at that very moment they would have sworn that someone close to me had died! I know, I know, that is a bit dramatic now that I look back on it, but hey, like I said he was and still is my boy! Looked good on Jay Leno last night, too.

Well, let me go see what games are on. I'll check ESPN and ESPN2 for some college games. Oh, Tennessee lost to LSU. I wasn't really upset either because they are both my teams. I will be rooting for both of them in the tournament. I must add though, that I believe LSU has the edge because they go on spurts where they are just unstoppable. I love it! They are definitely exciting to watch.

Heck no...

I did NOT go back outside to fix that drain pipe! Well, not right away anyway. It was too cold out and besides I got caught up reading other blogs. Plus, the phone rang several times. Why do people call when I am online? Why does my cell phone seem to only ring when I am on the house phone? Anyway, my Mom stopped by and I showed her the pipe.....hehehe, you should have seen her with the broom handle trying to fix it. I was in the window screaming that she needed to jump and hit the pipe. Then I felt bad so I got the chair and went out and fixed it. What a day!

The 76ers are losing! Come on guys...what's the deal? Maybe because I am not watching it. I am keeping track of the score on ESPN. Well, I think I've said enough for today.
Later!!

Rain, Pain, and that darn Drain!

Well, here I sit after some drama that happened this afternoon. I was doing some research on the Internet when I decided to go get some Mexican food. I noticed earlier that it was raining, but didn't think anything of it except that I should hurry up and venture out while it was still light outside. Anyway, I went downstairs and heard what sounded like water pouring down the side fof the house. Hmm, it must be raining hard, I thought to myself. I proceeded to get my jacket and sneakers on.
When I got outside, it was pouring!! I had no umbrella and nothing covering my head. I looked to the side of the house and saw this water spilling off the side of the roof to the porch. I looked up and sure enough the drain pipe had been blown off of the side so that now the water was just pouring onto the sidewalk and then down towards my neighbor's grass. Uh oh, I thought, I need to get that drain pipe back onto the roof. I went to get the snow shovel and used that to jump up and maneuver that pipe back to the roof.
Well, I forgot that I have this achilles tendon injury and when I landed back on my feet, I was in severe pain! OUCH! I looked up and the drain pipe was still hanging over. I go back in the house to get a chair and come back outside, stand on the chair, hit the pipe back in place and then at that point, I realize that not only am I in pain, but I am soaking wet and my finger is bleeding! What else could happen?!?!
As I am entering the house with the chair I bang the storm door hitting the glass and think, Oh great, I just broke the glass with the chair! But, it sounded worse than it was and thank God I didn't do any damage. I stood on the porch, and looked down at myself and thought that I should just stay home....forget the Mexican food. Hmph! No way! I went through all that and now I really felt the need to treat myself. I was getting the food!
Funny thing is that at this point, before I went back outside, I picked up my umbrella and proceeded out to the car as if nothing happened and as if I was not wet at all. LOL!!! I think someone may have seen me outside and thought that I looked like a complete idiot. Who cares? So, I ate my food and enjoyed every last grain of rice and every last bit of salsa. Mission accomplished...or so I thought!
I just looked out the window and the darn drain is off the roof once again! I will not go out there.....no, I refuse!!! Ok, wait, I'll have to write more.....right when I come back from fixing the drain pipe....at least I don't think its raining anymore. :0) Oh, by the way, can't wait to watch the Sixers tonight. Allen Iverson has been putting on a show. 60 points the other night! Simply amazing!!

Ramblings

Today I just feel like writing. Nothing specific, just me rambling on. I went into Philly on the train today and it was an adventure. See, I am not one to remember which trains to take and which track I need to be on to board the next train. Why would I remember when my friend is always there to guide me? I just never felt the need to pay attention. Well, today I was by myself and HAD to pay attention. I told myself that it would be ok. That I would not get lost. My friend had told me what number train to get on at what time. But then she had to make it more complicated for me and tell me that I would need to switch trains! Why?! I need to be able to stay on the same train for the duration of my journey....I can't be held responsible for looking at the electronic schedule to see which track I am supposed to be on. What, do these train people think that I am some sort of "daily train passenger?" I mean, come on, the last time I took the train I stayed on the same one. Oh, but wait, that was during the week. Ok, so now what? You mean to tell me that on the weekend things are different? Oh, please, give me a break!!!
So ok, I made my connecting train...whew!!! Oh no, did the lady sitting next to me just ask me if the train was going to North Broad???!! WTF??!!! Does she know that she is talking to a non-train riding individual?!! Doesn't it show on my face? I looked at her and said that I had no idea! Uh oh, some guy just woke up and told her that she was on the wrong train! Whew, at least I was on the right train! Now listen to me acting all billy bad a**!!
I made it! I got off the train and there is my friend screaming that I made it. I didn't get lost!!! YIPPEE!! Hey, I think to myself, this train thing is not at all that bad. :)

In Due Time

Went to the Philadelphia Auto Show yesterday and it was great. Saw Shaq's Escalade. I think the speakers in the back were bigger than me. I actually went because I wanted to see what type of SUV I would want to buy. You see, the Jetta is hanging in there, but I know she is only giving me time until I can get another vehicle. She has been good to me, but I know she is gettin' tired. LOL!! Anyway, I saw several cars that I liked at the show. I most definitely like the Xterra, but they had the nerve to have the truck ropped off. How the heck am I supposed to evaluate a car behind some stupid ropes?!?
At any rate, I was able to get into the MDX, the Pathfinder, the BMW X5 and the Mazda Tribute. I liked them all and would absolutely like to have the BMW.
The luxury cars were fantastic....my favorite....the 745li. All I can say is.....In Due Time. I will have this car. I love it, looked good in it (as told to me by my sister), and felt like the car should be mine, or shall I say, WILL be mine.

We are still Proud

The Eagles are still our team! We love what the boys did throughout the season. Our hearts go out to them and we know that they will be back next year. The countdown to Detroit has begun! Since I am a little tired, that is all I have to say right now. Oh yeah, the next big game for me is on Thursday, Tennessee vs. LSU. This is going to be a showdown. Stay tuned.

We all have our weak moments

Well, I did it...I broke down and bought the t-shirt....from the grocery store! Ugh!! Actually, my sister bought it for me. I couldn't take it. Only food is supposed to be purchased at the grocery store. I tell ya what though...I wore that grocery store bought shirt today with PRIDE!!!! You should see all of the people around here showing their Eagles spirit. It is GREAT!!! Well, after we win the Superbowl and party, I will write about other sports on here and also about other dilemmas I may have. Until then, I have to go and get ready for the big game. Oh, I know its not until another 24 hours, but a fanatic like me has a lot of preparations to take care of. Later! FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!!

In search of Eagles gear

Well, just got back from shopping for some new Eagles gear. The funny thing is that we couldn't find exactly what we were looking for so we came back empty handed. My Mom was looking for Eagles earrings to wear with my Eagles Superbowl jersey that she is going to borrow for tomorrow. Her whole office is getting dressed up for the Superbowl. I have a feeling that she is going to try to keep the jersey all weekend and then I won't be able to wear it for the game. Oh well.....my Mom is funny. She gets all into the games and the teams when it gets all serious. She was singing the Eagles song to me earlier! She could care less what happens throughout the season, but come crunch time...she's there pulling for the home team. Gotta love her!
I was looking for one of those black t-shirts with the Eagle on it and the word "One", but the stores I went to didn't have it. I heard that they had them at the local grocery store, but I just refuse to buy it there. Something just doesn't seem right about buying a t-shirt at the grocery store. Call me crazy, but I will NOT get it there!

Too lazy to think of a title...

I could stay on here all day and read people's blogs. Some of them are extremely interesting. I was just thinking that the world is full of fascinating people. Read a blog called "In My Write Mind" and the guy was talking about the Live Strong wristband. Very interesting since I wear one of those bands. His take was that he vowed to Live Strong. What a concept. We should all do the same and live our lives to the fullest and fufill our purpose in life. Are some people aware of the fact that they just "exist" and don't live to their full potential? Well, as they say, I am "going to ride this until the wheels fall off." I am vowing to enjoy every moment!

GO EAGLES!!!!!

Well, I'm bored so I decided to blog a little. First let me say: "E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!! Go Eagles. This place is going crazy over the Eagles. Can't say I blame them.

I'm listening to the radio thinking that I should really go out and invest in an Ipod. I am tired of listening to the same music over and over and the DJ is getting on my last nerve! Shut up already, ok??? Don't you think that they just like to hear themselves talk sometimes? Wait, I have to get up to change the station....I CAN'T take it!!!!

Ok, I'm back. Sorry for the ramblings on, but like I said earlier, I am BORED!!!! I spent the majority of my day in the bookstore today, which seems to be somewhat of a hobby for me lately. I just love to sit in the cafe with my books and veg out. It is so relaxing to me. Besides, you never know who you are going to meet. The other day I was trying to force myself to leave (something that I have to do often, otherwise I'd live there) and this older lady comes up to me and says, "Don't you just love all of the books?" Of course I was in my glory to hear that someone loved the bookstore as much as me. Well, to my amazement she just happened to be a retired English teacher. Guess what?! English was my favorite subject in High School. She was so flattered to hear that. You should have seen the smile on her face. I was happy too, because she reminded me of being in school. Gosh, I miss those days!

AHHH!!! Good thing I changed the radio station...they are playing one of my songs...Prince's Call My Name! Oh, I love this song. It is so sensual.

One more thing...last night I learned that Samuel L. Jackson modeled his coaching after Pat Summitt for his movie Coach Carter. I told you Pat Summitt was the bomb!

Tennessee Lady Vols!!!

Last night's t.v. was great. Tennessee vs Georgia. Tennessee wins 77-70! Awesome. They are the cream of the crop in the SEC. Pat Summitt knows how to keep her team motivated and strong. Not so good is that they lost Loree Moore who suffered a broken nose. However, that didn't stop the team. They looked absolutely unstoppable after their player went down. Next up for Tennessee, LSU on Feb 10th. Can't wait!!!!
Another great thing about t.v. last night... 76ers beat Indiana 89-88 on a great off-balance shot by Kyle Korver. 76ers look good and are now in firts place in the Atlantic division.
