Gas prices....EEK!!!

All I have to say about the gas prices are......LET's all work from home!! Pretty soon our paychecks will be going strictly for gas to get to work. So, why not make it easier and opt for working from home to save money.
Maybe we should all just pick a day to stay home and not do anything. Yeah, that's it, don't buy gas, food, or anything for one day and see what happens! We need to let it be known that the gas prices are outrageous and we are not going to tolerate it anymore!!! What's the song say...."we're not gonna take it..."

RSS feeds

Ok, I know that this blog is titled "Sports Jones", and I haven't really talked too much about sports lately. The reason being that I have not been watching any sports, the seasons that I am interested in have not started yet, and I have been heavily into learning some new technologies.

Which brings me to the title. Tonight I am trying to learn how to subscribe to some RSS feeds. Not sure how to do it, but I just found a tutorial so I am about to get started. I also found a very helpful tutorial for web based stuff at Tizag.

So, I am off to learn some more "geek" information. I am having a blast, although I am finding it more difficult to get up in the mornings......hard to get to sleep before midnight when I get all consumed into learning. OH WELL!!!

Enough Already!!

Ok, I have to get up with the times! I have been trying to download stuff to my IPOD and it is taking hours!!! Wanna know why??? Like a nut, I am still trying to exist with dialup access! I cannot take this anymore. I have to get broadband access or wireless...something has to give! This is INSANE!!!
I am supposed to be working on designing a website, but I have been trying to download, look up stuff, and learn stuff all while connected at 46.60 Kbps. I will never get anything done at this rate. UGH!!! Maybe I'll take a nap and when I wake up, hopefully the downloads will be complete.

Athletes and Money

Well the NFL training camps have begun and as usual there are holdouts. I don't understand how someone can holdout and not show up for work when they have signed and agreed to a contract. I am speaking of Brian Westbrook. How can he not honor something that he signed?? Doesn't make sense. If we, as employees, didn't show up for work for days and weeks on end, we would no doubt be fired. The only thing that happens to these guys is that they get docked pay, and yes, it is a lot of money that they are losing, but I at least think that they should be fired or have some other actions taken upon them. T.O. showed up even though he does not agree with his contract, but look at all the hype surrounding the fact of whether or not he would show. We don't have a choice, we must show up for work. Then there is Corey Simon, who in my opinion is done being an Eagle. He missed camp last year and came in all out of shape and now he is nowhere near to showing up this year.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that athletes should look at contracts just the way we look at job offers.....DO NOT sign on the dotted line if you don't agree with the terms. If you sign and then become unhappy, you should have the option to quit, just like we do. We don't however, have the luxury of sitting at home waiting for our lawyers/agents to negtiate with our employer.
