NBA Finals

Last night the Phoenix Suns held on to beat the San Antonio Spurs 111-106. The series is now 3-1 in favor of San Antonio. I bet Tim Duncan and the Spurs were disappointed that they were unable to close out the series. Steve Nash and the Suns were unwilling to let the game get away from them. Although I think the Spurs will win the series, I would like to see the Suns win the next one to make it interesting.

Meanwhile,

With 1:26 left i the first half, Detroit is beating Miami 56-44. I want the Heat to win this series and ultimately the whole thing. Miami Heat, 2005 NBA Champions...hmmmm....has a nice ring to it (no pun intended).

Gadgets

I had previously mentioned that I wanted to purchase an IPOD. I have been shopping around and making comparisons, trying to decide which model to buy. Then I noticed that people at my job have IPAQs and they rant and rave about these PDAs. Now I have to go compare the IPAQ and the IPOD.....although I know they are two completely different animals. I love to listen to music and have become interested in the podcasts that I have been reading about lately. I think that I will most likely get the IPOD because I would probably get more use out of it than the IPAQ. Another thought is that I'd be able to listen to my music while watching a sporting event and I would be able to concentrate on both. As opposed to the IPAQ, where I would have to interact with it more and thus, take away my concentrating on the games.

Welcome Back MO!!!!

The 76ers fired Jim O'brien as coach and hired Maurice Cheeks!!! With rumors circulating that the players felt O'brien was unapproachable, President and GM Billy King, fired O'brien and replaced hime with Mo Cheeks...a definite Philly favorite.
Being an avid 76ers fan from back in the day, I can only state how ecstatic I am at this news. I just hope that they keep the main core of the team in tact and make some minor personnel changes to take us to the next level.

NBA Western Conference Finals

The NBA Finals have begun. The San Antonio Spurs opened the series with a win over the Phoenix Suns, 121-114. It was a close game for a little bit in the second half and then the Spurs went on a run and that pretty much sealed the deal. The commentators were stating how great the refs were throughout the game. Then they mentioned that one of the refs, Jack Nies (I think his first name is Jack) was 67 years old and running up and down the floor with ease at his age. Boy, 67 years old, 40 years as an NBA ref, and he doesn't look a day over 40. I can only hope that I'll be as healthy and fit in my later years! Keep up the good work, Jack. You certainly are a great role model.

WNBA Opens Its Season

Well, the WNBA season is underway. The LA Sparks beat the Seattle Storm 68-50. The Storm had a horrendous day, shooting only 23.7 percent! No wonder they got beat. Lisa Leslie had 23 points and Chamique Holdsclaw had 16 points and 14 boards. Looks like this might be a tandem to watch.
In other games:

Detroit beat Connecticut 78-67
Washington beat Charlotte 60-42
Houston beat San Antonio 78-70

Be Careful Of What You Wish For

How many people have wished that they could wear jeans to work everyday? How many times have you said that it would be so easy to wake up, throw on a t-shirt and some jeans and run out the door to work? Well, I've said these things numerous times and guess what? Now I am "allowed" to wear jeans everyday at work if I want and I am finding it hard to do so. First of all, I don't have that many pair of jeans to wear for one week. Secondly, when I wear jeans, my mood is relaxed and when I get to work, I don't always feel like working....which is NOT a good thing.
Although I am greatful for the opportunity to wear jeans all the time, it makes me realize that I don't ALWAYS want to. In fact, I find if I wear jeans for the majority of the week, I feel like I am taking away from my weekend "dress like a bum" enjoyment. I used to look forward to waking up on Saturdays and putting on a clean pair of jeans....not anymore! Maybe I need to change my weekend wardrobe to sweatpants and sweatshirts so that I can go back to feeling like a bum. What about you? Would you prefer to wear jeans all the time or save them for Fridays and weekends only?

WNBA

I am so excited because next weekend the WNBA starts its new season. Lisa Leslie and the LA Sparks take on Sue Bird and the defending champions, the Seattle Storm. Should be a good matchup. I think that they should definitely have great television coverage because it seems that more and more people are taking notice of the women and the fact that they can really ball.

Finally

Ok, I did it! I purchased a new Toshiba laptop and I just love it! I'm sure I will be posting more now that I will be online all the time. Stay tuned for updates. Oh yeah, I see that the Miami Heat have been winning without Shaq. I pick them to win it all. Right now they are beating the Wizards 87-76 with 11:51 to go in the 4th.

Traffic and Gapor Delays

Ok, so we've all been there. Stuck in traffic wondering what in the world could be the hold up. Well, since it now takes me a good hour and fifteen minutes to get to work...I have to wonder the same thing.
I sit there in the car (with no radio mind you....oh that is another story within itself) trying to pass the time by looking at the nice scenery or by looking at people in their cars doing various things. For example, this one lady was putting on make-up, someone else was eating (couldn't make out what it was), some guy was on the phone and he kept slamming on his brakes to keep from running into the person in front of him. As I look ahead, I see that a tractor trailer is pulled over on the shoulder on the opposite side of the highway!!! Why then are WE slowing down??!!! Why do we need to look and see what the deal is??? Who cares???? Maybe we should all just pull over and look at each other!!! We don't seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. Or should I say, "they" don't seem to be in a hurry because I surely have places to go. I feel like getting out of my car and screaming, "Excuse me!!! I need to get to work so that I can hear some MUSIC before I go CRAZY!!!"
This unfortunately has become a daily ritual of mine...traffic and the good ole gapor delay!! Clearly I need to get a life.

Mother's Day

Just wanted to take a quick moment to wish all the Mothers a Blessed and Beautiful Mother's Day. We are all so fortunate to have our Mothers with us. Let us never forget our Mothers and the sacrifices that they have made for us!!!
