Vivian Stringer vs. Pat Summitt

What a game!!! My two favorite teams and my two favorite coaches. I was torn.

However, in the grand scheme of things, I was truly pulling for Rutgers. I wanted Coach Stringer to see what it feels like to win a Championship Title. If her team could have played the way they played to get to the Final......there would be no doubt that they could win it. This "team of destiny" did not have destiny on their side. They did not play to their full potential. Seemed like the excitement of being in the big game was just too much for the young Scarlet Knights.

Not to worry....Rutgers will be back next year.

I am happy for Coach Summitt to end the almost 10 year drought to get her coveted 7th Championship. The Lady Vols just meshed together and could not be stopped. The team was definitely focused and hungry. Although Candace Parker stood out with star characteristics, others stepped up to the plate to help. Nikki Anosike was a beast on the offensive boards, Shannon Bobbit was draining 3's like no other. The Lady Vols were back in true form with that Orange and White Rocky Top swagger!!!!

Congrats to both programs......they have done the game of Women's Basketball a great justice and the game has definitely been raised to the next level.....stay tuned for next season!!!!

March Madness and Twitter

Welcome to the Tournament!!! Whoo Hoo!!! This is by far the best time of the year. Multiple basketball games going on....all with do or die implications! I love it!! The other night Duke was beat by VCU!! That messed up so many pools because no one would have thought that Duke would have been ousted in the first round! I couldn't control myself. I was in my house screaming because upsets like those are the BEST.

Just waiting to see what the Lady Vols and the Lady Scarlet Knights do tonight. Tennessee was winning BIG time so they haven't been showing that game too much at all.

Ok, so I have been stung by the Twitter bug. I find it addictive and interesting. It seems like the years just fly by. Today it was 72 degrees! I loved it, but it is definitely not typical weather for the month of January. I think Global Warming is really upon us.

Tomorrow the Eagles play the Giants in the first round of the playoffs. Would be nice if the Eagles win and are able to advance. What I would REALLY like to see is for the Eagles to win the Super Bowl. It would be great and newsworthy because they would be doing all of this without Donavan McNabb......hahaha!!!! I can't stand him anyway! I think Jeff Garcia is much better!!

Today the Tenessee Lady Vols beat the UConn Huskies!!! I am thrilled, although Tennessee almost gave it away. They were up by 18 and at one point the game got tied late in the second half. Say It Isn't So....

Well, I guess the time has come. Allen Iverson and the Philadelphia 76ers seem to be parting ways. As much as I hate to say it and as sad as it makes me to say it, maybe this is best. I mean, I want to see Allen get a ring and the way things are going now, it does not appear that he would be able to get that ring with the team that they have now. He needs to win now because he is not getting any younger and his body might not have too many more basketball years left. The only thing that keeps me from being really sad is that I know he is going to be better off somewhere else. I mean, if the Sixers REALLY wanted to help him win, Billy King would have put together a much stronger team in the off-season. In my opinion, Billy King is a bumb and I hope that AI comes back and whoops the Sixers butts. No disrespect to Mo Cheeks, Chris Webber, Andre Igoudola, Sam Dalembert, and the rest of the team.....I love you guys, but my loyalty to the team is no longer as strong as it once was.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://sportsjones.blogspot.com/2006/12/ai-say-it-isnt-so.html' title='A.I. I truly like both players, but this time I had to go with Amelie. Serena hasn't been playing much and Amelie is on her game these days. I mean, she is ranked number one and seems to be stepping up to the plate.

It was a great match. Amelie came out blazing and won the first set. Then in true Mauresmo form, she went in the tank during the second set and lost it, forcing a third set. Serena looked good in the second set and her serve was amazing. Then it seemed that Amelie woke up in the 3rd set and took it to Serena. Good match and I pick Amelie to win it all.

Florida State vs Miami......both teams are quick and it was great to see Florida State win a close one!

MAC Geek????

Ok, so its only been about a week and I am loving my new MacBook. I went to the store today to see what other accessories and programs I might need for my new MacBook. My man focus now is a laptop sleeve so that I don't scratch it.

Well, can't wait to do my first website with iWeb!!!

Took a bite of the Apple......

Well, I did it!!! Today I bought myself the new Apple MacBook. So far, I love it. I am actually posting this with the new Notebook! It took me several months to decide if I really "needed" to get one of these. I did some research and finally decided to give it a go. I was initially going to get the 17" MacBook Pro, but decided against it because I really couldn't justify the $2799 price tag. Plus, for what I intend to do, I do not need something as powerful as the MacBook Pro. I believe that the MacBook is going to be just fine for me. Since this is my first Apple Computer I am sure that there will be loads of fun stuff for me to learn. Has anyone else out there recently purchased a MacBook or MacBook Pro? If so, how do you like it?

World Team Tennis

I am anxiously awaiting the start of the WTT season. Can anyone else but me say that Andre Iguodala from the Philadelphia 76ers got robbed??!!!! I mean come on!!! He did a dunk from BEHIND the basket. Grabbed the ball off the back of the backboard and came around to the front....all while in the air....and made the slam!! That dunk got him 50 points and you are gonna tell me that he lost the competition by 1 point???? 1 lousy point????!!! Be real!!!
To make matters worse, one of the judges had given him a 10 on his last dunk and then decided to look around and pull back the 10 to give him a 9. What is going on here??? Just because the other guy, whom I might add, had some fantastic dunks, was a smaller player.....is this why he was given the title????? Doesn't make much sense to me.
Well, Andre, we got much love for you here in Philly. I am so happy for Jerome "The Bus" Bettis. Good to see him go out on top. Also glad that Pennsylvania was fortunate enough to get a chamionship somehow.....who knows when the Philadelphia Eagles or for that matter, the 76ers, will win a championship?

Winter Olympics have started. I haven't watched much, but I do like the speed skating and the snowboarding. It was nice to have 6 days off from work. I didn't realize how tired my body was until I spent 2 of those days sleeping.
I also had my 20th High School Reunion. It was a blast! It was so great to see everyone again. Some of the people I hadn't seen in 20 yrs! Some people aged, but for the most part everyone looked good. It was classic.....Kobe was held to something like 17 points or whatever....Igudola stuck to him like no other and was able to contain him. This is great because so far Kobe has been having the best season of his career. Well, not in PHILLY!!! The Sixers were not having it. They ended up beating the Lakers by 4 for their third straight win. I must say that I like the way Mo Cheeks is having the team play....great defense too!

Guess I should make a note of the T.O. happenings this past week. All I have to say to him is..."fire Drew Rosenhous, you'll be better off." Also, Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid better have something up their sleeves because they can't win without T.O. I am not saying that I agree with all that Terrell has said or done, but you know what? It all comes down to this...the man can play some football and frankly speaking, the Eagles need him. I am not even sure if they look like a playoff team.

The only thing that I can say is......Thank God the NBA season starts on Tuesday.....let's go SIXERS!!!!

The agony of defeat

What the HECK is wrong with the EAGLES!!!! I cannot believe that they just lost to the Dallas Cowboys 30-10. I think they looked horrible. Donovan McNabb was never in the game. Five time, count 'em...(1-2-3-4-5)they were 3 and out. You cannot run an offense like that and expect to win. We do not look like Super Bowl contenders. Then, when they knew that they could not come back, they still had Donovan in there.....why? Why, Andy? Why? Take the man out before he gets seriously hurt and misses the playoffs. Heck, the way they played today, the whole team might miss the playoffs. Now we have 2 weeks to sulk in this loss since the Eagle have a bye week next week. Well, guess I'll look forward to watching Monday Night Football and Pennsylvania's "other" team, the Pittsburgh Steelers!! Let's GO Jerome "the bus" Bettis!!!!

WNBA Champions!!!!

My team won!!! The Sacramento Monarchs defeated the Connecticut Sun 62-59 to become the 2005 WNBA Champions! The game was fantastic.
The Monarchs struggled in the first half, but came out more determined than ever in the second. Although the Monarchs had a fourteen point lead with about 6 minutes to go in the second half, Connecticut did not lay down. They kept fighting and made the game close. Good effort by the Sun, but I am thrilled that the Monarchs and Yolanda Griffith and Kara Lawson got a title.

WNBA FINALS.....

What a series it has been. Sacramento and Connecticut were tied going into this afternoon's game. The two teams appear to be evenly matched.
Sacramento held on to win it today and now they lead the best-of-five series 2-1. They had a fourteen point lead and let the Suns get back to within 2 before they pulled away again. Nothing like keeping it exciting until the very end. Gotta love it!

I am hoping that Sacramento pulls it out and wins the Championship. People who have been in the league for a long time, like Yolanda Griffith, deserve to get a ring. Game four, Tuesday night in Sacramento. Lets go Monarchs!!

In other games today...

The Eagles beat the 49ers 42-3! Now that's what I'm talking about. They came out firing and never looked back. Could it be that last Monday night's game woke them up? I hope so. Nothing like a good scare in the beginning of the season to get a team going. Keep the momentum going and lets kick some more butt next week.

And on Saturday, the Minnesota Golden Gophers beat Fla Atlantic 46-7! I love it!!!

Philadelphia Eagles....

Here we go AGAIN. I hope the first Eagles game was not representative of what the season is to become. They looked LOUSY. Looked like they were not in sync at all. Donovan Mcnabb had better get it together. If he's the leader of the team, he better act like it and put some points on the board. 'Nuff said!

As for the pre-game scuffle....was it really that serious to eject both players? Did Jeremiah Trotter really throw a punch? If so, where and when did he do it? Wasn't it just a bunch of guys trying to get themselves hyped for a game? Come on now.

Just heard that Donovan has a bruised chest...is this something that is going to haunt him all season and cause us to miss yet another Super Bowl because Donovan is hurt, sick, or tired?

Pray for the victims of Hurricane Katrina

With all the devastation in the Gulf Coast, I am asking that everyone say a few extra prayers for the vicims of the hurricane. The reason being that I have not been watching any sports, the seasons that I am interested in have not started yet, and I have been heavily into learning some new technologies.

Which brings me to the title. Tonight I am trying to learn how to subscribe to some RSS feeds. Not sure how to do it, but I just found a tutorial so I am about to get started. I also found a very helpful tutorial for web based stuff at Tizag.

So, I am off to learn some more "geek" information. I am having a blast, although I am finding it more difficult to get up in the mornings......hard to get to sleep before midnight when I get all consumed into learning. I don't understand how someone can holdout and not show up for work when they have signed and agreed to a contract. I am speaking of Brian Westbrook. How can he not honor something that he signed?? Doesn't make sense. If we, as employees, didn't show up for work for days and weeks on end, we would no doubt be fired. The only thing that happens to these guys is that they get docked pay, and yes, it is a lot of money that they are losing, but I at least think that they should be fired or have some other actions taken upon them. T.O. showed up even though he does not agree with his contract, but look at all the hype surrounding the fact of whether or not he would show. We don't have a choice, we must show up for work. Then there is Corey Simon, who in my opinion is done being an Eagle. He missed camp last year and came in all out of shape and now he is nowhere near to showing up this year.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think that athletes should look at contracts just the way we look at job offers.....DO NOT sign on the dotted line if you don't agree with the terms. If you sign and then become unhappy, you should have the option to quit, just like we do. We don't however, have the luxury of sitting at home waiting for our lawyers/agents to negtiate with our employer.

Sammy and the Sixers/Lance and Lucky #7

I must say that Billy King, President of the Sixers, had been getting on my nerves lately. Why? Because he kept saying that he wanted to keep Kyle Korver, Willie Green, and Samuel Dalembert with the team. But, I saw him doing nothing but talking about keeping them. I was maily concerned with us losing Sammy. I think we need all three, but I would have been highly upset had they let Sammy get away.
Then today I hear the news....Sixers keep Dalembert for a reported 6yr contract. So, I guess I will leave Billy King alone...for now.

Congrats to Lance Armstrong for winning a record 7th Tour de France. Take for example yesterday. All over the news and radio everyone was talking about the big Live 8 awareness concert. News castors made mention of the fact that this was a history making event. There would be one million or more people converging on the Ben Franklin Parkway in the city of Philadelphia.

Now all week I was telling everyone that I would not be going to the concert, even though it was a mere train ride away for me. I mentioned that there would be way too many people there and that I just hate being in crowds. Then, Saturday morning all things changed.

I couldn't fathom missing such an event. I just wanted to go down there to say that I went. I wanted to be a part of history.

We decided at the last minute to hop the train and join the millions of others planted on the Parkway, making history for a cause. And, you know what? The crowds didn't bother me at all. The weather was great. The people were great. And of course, the artists were fantastic! I stayed much longer than planned, but it was well worth it. I was able to bring home some great souveniers and momentos.

I will forever remember attending the Live 8 concert. It feels great to have been a part of something so enormous. Yes, living here definitely has its privileges, but being a part of Live 8 is priceless. Hopefully, this is only the start of better things to come for the entire World!!!

Biggest Comeback In WNBA History

History has been made in the women's game. The San Antonio Spurs are the World Champs. They beat the Detroit Pistons 81-74. The game was a great game 7 as both teams were fighting to keep it close. I do not have a special liking for either the Detroit Pistons or the San Antonio Spurs. And, the series just seemed to be moving along at an uninteresting pace for me. That is until the series became tied and then last night was the awesome overtime game. Now that is what the Finals should be like. It should be nail biting, sitting on the edge of your seat, intensity. That I can cope with. I really don't care who wins.....just make it interesting.

Father's Day and My Sister's Birthday

Couldn't pass up the opportunity to post Happy Father's Day and Happy Birthday wishes to my peeps! It was my second time there, but my first time in the "regular" seats( the first time I went, I was fortunate to get a Suite). It was a double-header as the rain caused the game from the night before to be post-poned. We make it up to our "nose-bleed" seats (although it was quite high, the view of the city's skyline was magnificent) and start to get settled in. Then I realized that I was hungry and had to travel what seemed like a mile for food, but that is an altogether different story.
I was happy to see that there was no one in our row but us. I liked this because I then felt that I could spread out and relax a little. As the game went on more and more fans showed up. The thing I noticed that was quite amusing to me was the fact that most of the people decided to just sit "where ever". It was like they felt that since they had upper deck seats, it did not matter where they sat.
I found this amusing because numerous people were asked to move seats because the "real" owners of the seats had arrived. Now I don't know about anyone else, but when I go to a game I want to sit in my correct seat and not have to worry about being booted out and causing a commotion by having to gather my goods and stepping over people to exit the row. Then I noticed that the people who got booted went to the next set of open seats!! Come on, people, go sit where you are supposed to. Their shenanigans were making me miss the game because of course I had to be nosey to see what was happening and why there were so many people standing up.
Another thing I noticed was that the people who wanted to get up the most were the ones who were sitting near the middle of the row. This meant that they had to keep disturbing the people in their row each and every time they wanted to get up. My question is this: Why don't the people who get up frequently request aisle seats? This would alleviate the painstaking process of making everyone in the row get up every ten minutes. It seemed like the seventh inning stretch lasted the whole game for some people. I think that everyone should keep in mind that they are there to see a game; not to sit where they want or disturb the other people who want to see the game. What do you think? Is there anything at a sporting event that disturbs you or makes you wish you had stayed home to watch the game on your big screen tv?

NBA Finals

Last night the Phoenix Suns held on to beat the San Antonio Spurs 111-106. The series is now 3-1 in favor of San Antonio. I bet Tim Duncan and the Spurs were disappointed that they were unable to close out the series. Steve Nash and the Suns were unwilling to let the game get away from them. Although I think the Spurs will win the series, I would like to see the Suns win the next one to make it interesting.

Meanwhile,

With 1:26 left i the first half, Detroit is beating Miami 56-44. I want the Heat to win this series and ultimately the whole thing. Miami Heat, 2005 NBA Champions...hmmmm....has a nice ring to it (no pun intended).

Gadgets

I had previously mentioned that I wanted to purchase an IPOD. I have been shopping around and making comparisons, trying to decide which model to buy. Then I noticed that people at my job have IPAQs and they rant and rave about these PDAs. Now I have to go compare the IPAQ and the IPOD.....although I know they are two completely different animals. I love to listen to music and have become interested in the podcasts that I have been reading about lately. I think that I will most likely get the IPOD because I would probably get more use out of it than the IPAQ. Another thought is that I'd be able to listen to my music while watching a sporting event and I would be able to concentrate on both. As opposed to the IPAQ, where I would have to interact with it more and thus, take away my concentrating on the games.

NBA Draft Lottery Results

The NBA held the Draft Lottery tonight and the results are as follows:

1. The San Antonio Spurs opened the series with a win over the Phoenix Suns, 121-114. It was a close game for a little bit in the second half and then the Spurs went on a run and that pretty much sealed the deal. The commentators were stating how great the refs were throughout the game. Then they mentioned that one of the refs, Jack Nies (I think his first name is Jack) was 67 years old and running up and down the floor with ease at his age. Boy, 67 years old, 40 years as an NBA ref, and he doesn't look a day over 40. I can only hope that I'll be as healthy and fit in my later years! Keep up the good work, Jack. You certainly are a great role model.

WNBA Opens Its Season

Well, the WNBA season is underway. How many times have you said that it would be so easy to wake up, throw on a t-shirt and some jeans and run out the door to work? Well, I've said these things numerous times and guess what? Now I am "allowed" to wear jeans everyday at work if I want and I am finding it hard to do so. First of all, I don't have that many pair of jeans to wear for one week. Secondly, when I wear jeans, my mood is relaxed and when I get to work, I don't always feel like working....which is NOT a good thing.
Although I am greatful for the opportunity to wear jeans all the time, it makes me realize that I don't ALWAYS want to. In fact, I find if I wear jeans for the majority of the week, I feel like I am taking away from my weekend "dress like a bum" enjoyment. I used to look forward to waking up on Saturdays and putting on a clean pair of jeans....not anymore! Maybe I need to change my weekend wardrobe to sweatpants and sweatshirts so that I can go back to feeling like a bum. What about you? Would you prefer to wear jeans all the time or save them for Fridays and weekends only?

WNBA

I am so excited because next weekend the WNBA starts its new season. Well, since it now takes me a good hour and fifteen minutes to get to work...I have to wonder the same thing.
I sit there in the car (with no radio mind you....oh that is another story within itself) trying to pass the time by looking at the nice scenery or by looking at people in their cars doing various things. For example, this one lady was putting on make-up, someone else was eating (couldn't make out what it was), some guy was on the phone and he kept slamming on his brakes to keep from running into the person in front of him. As I look ahead, I see that a tractor trailer is pulled over on the shoulder on the opposite side of the highway!!! Why then are WE slowing down??!!! Why do we need to look and see what the deal is??? Who cares???? Maybe we should all just pull over and look at each other!!! We don't seem to be in a hurry to get anywhere. Or should I say, "they" don't seem to be in a hurry because I surely have places to go. I feel like getting out of my car and screaming, "Excuse me!!! I need to get to work so that I can hear some MUSIC before I go CRAZY!!!"
This unfortunately has become a daily ritual of mine...traffic and the good ole gapor delay!! Clearly I need to get a life.

Mother's Day

Just wanted to take a quick moment to wish all the Mothers a Blessed and Beautiful Mother's Day. The meal was great, but the waitress was too attentive! We came to the restaurant to catch up and to enjoy each others company, not to be interrupted every 10 minutes.

After being seated the waitress arrives and asks if we had been to this place before. Yes, we reply. That should be a clue that we do not need to know the ins and outs of the place and how things work. She proceeds to ask us if we want to sample the wine....mind you we asked the hostess to remove our wine glasses. Didn't she see that as a hint that we did not want any wine???? No! Then she has to tell us which one was her favorite...who cares??!! Just ask us what we want to drink and move on, please!

Now at this particular restaurant you have the option to have soup or salad with your entree. We chose the soup. Well, why does the waitress (from hereforth known as "she") bring us a big bowl of salad and ask if we would like fresh grated cheese on the top?! My friend and I looked at each other and then "she" realized that we didn't order the salad. Then "she" tells us that "she" is sorry and that this is her fourth double this week. Double what? Seems like it could be a double shot of Vodka that she had while in the back!

Our meal finally comes and "she" must have stopped by around 12 million times to see if we were ok and if we needed anything. Now don't get me wrong, I like for the waitress to check to see if all is ok and if we need drink refills, etc...just not so frequently. Can my friend and I have a decent meal without interruptions every ten minutes?!!

At last....dessert time!!! Of course "she" must tell us which is her favorite....is this a job requirement of this restaurant? (Can't be hired unless you tell them what your favorite is) Our dessert comes, "she" asks if we need anything else, we say "no" and "she" moves on. No lie, two minutes later, "she" asks if all is ok AGAIN!!!! My friend then makes a comment about "she" asking the same questions over and over. Clearly we need to hurry up and eat the dessert so that we can leave.

The check comes, we pay it, and "she" has one more word....what is it??? "She" says "Thank You." Now, that I can handle. When I go out to eat, sometimes, I just want to be left alone to enjoy the atmosphere, my company, and the food....no need for much else.

Terrell Owens

Did anyone see Terrell Owens crying on t.v. last night? What is going on? I know that he fired his agent and hired someone else who it appears has somewhat of a "reputation" amongst those in the know. I know that T.O. wants to redo his contract. I know that he has made some comments about the Super Bowl game. I know that he is always in the spotlight. I know that he seems to be a sensitive guy. I know that he loves Philly (or does he?) But, what I do not know is why is the fact that he wants to redo his contract a big deal? People do it all the time, right?

I guess the problem is that he just signed that contract last year. (Why would he sign it if it wasn't what he really wanted?) I guess it looks like he is trying to be greedy, but isn't that what negotiating is about? Well, maybe not greed, but it is about trying to get what you feel you're worth. Just like in the "real" world. Wouldn't you, as an employee, try to get what you are worth?

Are we making too big a deal about this? Is it the fact that T.O. is a professional athlete that this becomes a problem? Is it the fact that T.O. always seems to be in some sort of controversy? Is is the fact that some think he is not honoring his contract?

I don't know. What I do know is that I feel T.O. should be able to take care of his family and be paid what he is worth. I have a problem with the fact that this contract was signed a year ago and he is already trying to restructure it. (Although this, too, could be seen as an annual review in the "real" world.) I also know that it is ashame that this has to play out in the public. I really do feel for T.O. because he seems like a decent person and I really think that he is only trying to get what he feels is right, but can we please not take it on such a personal level and leave the man and his negotiations alone?

NBA Playoffs...Will 76ers Make The Cut?

Well, the time is near. It's almost time for the playoffs to start. Teams are vying for spots. My concern is that the Sixers won't make the playoffs. After all the trade hype, they are fighting for the 7th or 8th spot in the East.
The other night they lost to Boston and this was a crucial game. Crucial because they could have been 1 game out of first place. But no, they have to make things interesting and lose the game. They were winning by about 14 points only to let the Celtics come back and win the game. So, we sit here and wait. Waiting to see if our beloved 76ers make the playoffs or if once again, Philly fans have to say, "Wait until next year." Do you think that the Sixers have a chance?

Advice/Recommendations...

Anyone out there have any recommendations on buying a good laptop? As with anything, we searched for the schedule aka the Information Booth. We found out that we only had 20 minutes until the arrival! We rushed over to the demonstration stage, scanned the crowd, and found front row seats!!!
After a short wait, Jerome "the Bus" Bettis came on stage. The crowd erupted and he gave us a big infectious smile and hello. He then proceeded to talk about asthma and the different methods of prevention and maintenance. He talked about having a game plan when you have asthma so that you can be in control of the disease. He even snuck in a comment about a game plan to beat the Eagles! The crowd went crazy! It was great.
Once finished on stage, he went over to one of the booths to sign pictures for fans and yes, I was able to get my famed picture of the two of us signed. He was very patient and kind with each and every fan. I must say that it was a fantastic day. This is definitely a "Bus" that I did not mind waiting around for.

In Search Of The Bus

Tomorrow they are having the Annual Fit Fest at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and from my understanding Jerome “The Bus” Bettis will be there to talk about Asthma and how to live with it. I am definitely on a mission, but the problem is that nothing lists what time he will be appearing. Thus, I will be “In Search Of The Bus.”
You see, I am a HUGE Jerome Bettis fan and several years ago I had the opportunity to meet him and get my picture taken with him. I had traveled to Florida for a Sports Conference and ran into him. He was kind enough to pose for a picture with me.
Well, over the years, I misplaced the picture and was looking everywhere possible in the house for it. I mean, I was in the closets, in the utility shed, in the linen closet, and in the attic. I just could not imagine where it could be. I was sweating and praying to St. Anthony to help me find it. I realized that I had missed the closet in the dining room. After searching through one box and having phone books fall on my head, I spotted another box. Lo and behold! That's where the picture was! Thank you St. Anthony!!!
Today, I went to get the picture blown up so that I can get him to autograph it for me. So, since I know the event starts at 10am, I will get there at that time and hope that I don't have to wait all day for the Bus to make a stop and sign my picture.

Dilemmas

Ever have so many thoughts running through your mind that you can't get things done? Then when you think that you are making progress all you really know is that you have dilemmas to contemplate? That is the type of day that I am having. There are some things that I must purchase, but I don't know which to get first. It all boils down to the mighty dollar!!!
I <s>want</s>need to buy a new car, but I don't know which one I want. I like the Xterra, Escape, and the Jetta. I am leaning towards the Xterra, but only if I can get a good deal.
I NEED to get a new laptop. Mine is dying a slow death. Sometimes it will let me connect to the Internet and other times it won't. It just creeps along and has a mind of its own. I am now typing this from my old Windows 98 desktop pc. UGH!! At least my laptop had Windows 2000. The problem here is that there are so many laptops out there to choose from, but I need to make a decision NOW, spend the money, and get a dependable, up-to-date laptop.
Finally, I want an IPOD!!! I was researching these and felt that this would be a good purchse. I see that I would be able to use it for various things; not just music. But, since this is more of a want right now, I guess this purchase will have to wait. Unless of course, someone out there wants to be kind and buy one for me. :0) HINT, HINT....you know who YOU are!!!!

What A Great NCAA Tournament!

I guess all good things must come to an end. The 2005 NCAA Basketball Tournament is over. The teams that were pegged to win did not quite complete the task. For the men or the women.
On the men's side North Carolina beat Illinois. Illinois was number one throughout the season and I know a lot of people thought that they would win it all. They gave a good fight, but in the end, it just wasn't their time. They did have a great season, and I believe that they will be back next year.
On the women's side, LSU was picked to win because they had been number one throughout their season. Tennessee was picked to win also, especially after Connecticut got beat. Neither of these two teams made it to the Championship game. I congratulate them on a season well played. Baylor won the Championship by beating Michigan State. Baylor played a nearly perfect game and they just seemed to have the fire in their eyes. I was pulling for them to win it all after LSU and Tennessee lost. I must admit that it was nice to see different teams playing for the title as opposed to the "usual" teams. That's what makes college athletics so exciting...on any given day, at any given time, any given team can win it all.

Ghetto Boys

Seems like the only real thing about "My Mind Is Playing Tricks On Me" was the song by the Ghetto Boys. What is it about the game that makes us want to eat? We are watching a sporting event that is being played by fit athletes. Not some overweight junk food junkies. It seems ironic to me. That being said....I am on my way to the store to get some "junk food" for tonight's Women's NCAA Final Four match-up. LOL!!! (Could I be an overweight junk food junkie?)
Think I'll get some nutritious snacks....NOT!!!! Creating this blog was the first thing to help me learn more. I also found some other very interesting and helpful web design blogs and sites. I added some links on the side to the other blogs that I have been reading lately. The thing I like most is that there are so many people out there willing to help teach a "newbie" like myself the ropes of Web Design. So, as I continue this blog, I will certainly still talk about sports, but I hope to incorporate some of the things that I have learned. I hope that this site becomes a place that others like to visit.

Women's NCAA Final Four Is Set

It has taken me a couple of days to write this because I had to recover from the Tennessee vs. Rutgers Regional Final. What a game! Tennessee won 59-49, although it was NOT that easy. The game was very intense and exciting even though the refs tried to determine the outcome of the game by producing some very questionable calls. (How did Rutgers have 10 fouls against them in the first half as opposed to Tennessee having zero at one point?) C. Vivian Stringer was coaching her butt off!!! I hadn't seen her so animated in recent years. I loved it. The teams were both deserving of a win. I hope that Rutgers makes it to the Final Four next year. It was great to be able to see the Lady Vols cut down the net in person. It's much better than watching it on t.v.

Sunday is the night I have been waiting for. The FINAL FOUR. LSU will play Baylor and Tennessee will play Michigan State. I will most definitely be in front of the tube for both games. (Mental note: make sure everything is done before 6:30p.m). I predict that Tennessee will play LSU for the title and LSU will prevail.

One Exciting NCAA Filled Weekend

Practice for the Women's NCAA Basketball tournament could not have been better! We were able to see Texas Tech, Tennessee, Rutgers, and Ohio State. Although I do admit that we left just as Ohio State was taking the floor. It was a l-o-n-g afternoon and I would not have had it any other way. I was able to get some Tennessee players to sign my t-shirt, but the most rewarding and thrilling thing was that I was able to get Pat Summitt, the head coach of Tennessee to sign the t-shirt!!! I was like a kid at Christmas time opening my gifts when she came over and signed the shirt. She is very personable and takes time to listen to what people are saying to her as she is signing. I think I have more respect for her (if that's at all possible by me)after seeing her over the weekend.
Another great thing about going to the practice was seeing Rutgers and C.Vivian Stringer. She is another class-act. She acknowleged the fans when she entered the arena and again when she was exiting. She took time to sign each and every autograph and you could tell that she was happy to be amongst the fans. I don't think a smile ever left her face. Well, that is until they were practicing...it was all business then. And so it should be. I was able to sit in the front row for the entire afternoon and oh, yeah, I forgot to mention that I was the first person in the arena when the doors opened!
We were able to get tickets to the semi-final games and also to tonight's final game. Tennessee looked strong against Texas Tech and was able to win with ease. Rutgers had a close game against Ohio State, but was able to prevail in the end. This brings us to tonight's final with Rutgers taking on Tennessee. These are the two teams that I like the most. I will be torn watching this game. I will not wear orange or red to the game because I just cannot pick sides. May the best team win. Although I know I will be sharing the disappointment of the team that loses.
Note: I had picked Ohio State to be in the Final Four, but since Rutgers beat them, that will not happen. Yes, Rutgers is one of my favorite teams, but I must admit that I did not think that they would get past Ohio State. Good thing I'm not a betting girl!
Another Note: My Father and sister enjoyed the practice sessions just as much as I did. :0)

It's Just Practice

I am so excited because tomorrow I will be able to see Pat Summitt and the Tennessee Vols run an open practice session! This is great since I was unable to get tickets to the games. I will also be able to see C. Vivian Stringer and her Scarlet Knights practice. Practice is from 12-4 at the Liacouras Center on Temple University's campus. I had been trying to find out if there were open practices. I was asking my Dad all week to check the papers and let me know if he sees anything. All week long he kept saying that he did not see anything in the papers. I believed him because my Dad reads the sports pages like he is inspecting each and every story with a fine-tooth comb. So, two days ago he brings me the sports section because there was a nice article in there about Rutgers beating Temple and how C. Vivian Stringer and Dawn Staley are both mentored by John Chaney.
I was getting chills reading the story because it was fascinating. Little did I know that by the time I got to the end of the story, my whole upper body would be experiencing the chills. Why, you ask? Well, at the end of the article, there it was, the announcement for the open practices!!!! "Dad", I said, "why didn't you tell me about the practices?" He nonchalantly says, "Oh, I didn't read that story." What?! I mean, come on, not the same man that reads the sports pages before he reads the rest of the paper....not my Dad, the man who, in my opinion, knows any and everything about sports. How could he have missed this?
All I could do was scream and holler about how I was going to practice!!!! My sister looked at me and said, "Come on, it's just practice." Maybe to them, but to me, its like winning the lottery. And, by the way, guess who's going to practice with me? Yep, my sister and my Dad! I'll keep you posted on my exciting experience. Stay tuned.

4 States In 4 Days

Boy am I exhausted! I have been to 4 different states in the span of 4 days. I have been to Delaware, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and New Jersey. Why so many? Well, I live in DE and I have family in PA. I went to Maryland with a friend and spent my time at the Inner Harbor at the bookstore while my friend was attending an Information Session about a career opportunity. We arrived early and its a good thing. We, or should I say, I made us miss the exit off of the highway. I do not know what I was thinking because its not like I had never been to the Harbor before. My friend was saying that we should take the exit and I said, no, I don't think its the right one. Well, before I could speak up, I noticed that we were bypassing downtown Baltimore and the Harbor. Oh no! I just looked at her and said, "Don't listen to me when it comes to directions, please!" She laughed and thought it was a good opportunity to learn an alternate route. Not me! Lets just get to our destination....is what I was thinking.
Anyway, we found our way, but that was after we were stuck in a MASSIVE traffic jam. At first, we were both calm, cool, and collected. Then we started getting the RAGE...you know, ROAD RAGE!!! We were yelling at the people in front of us for not pulling up enough, yelling at the lady trying to get in front of us, because clearly she did not know how to drive, and then I just about had enough...I had to put down the window and put my hand out so that we could cross over two lanes of traffic. Hmmm, do you think someone was yelling at us at that point? LOL!!! We made it to our destination in tact and all went well.
I went to New Jersey, Atlantic City to be exact, so that my Mom could shop at the new outlets. Now, let me tell you, I don't know why I even bother to go shopping with her and my sister. I hardly ever go into the stores and I rarely buy anything. Well, that is, unless its sneakers or some other athletic apparel. Good thing it was a gorgeous day because while they went into the stores, I just stayed outside and soaked up the sun and did my usual people-watching routine. We then went into the casino and played a little slots...nothing major and no major winnings to speak of. Besides, if we had won big do you think that I would be sitting here writing about this trip? I think not! I'd be on an island in the British West Indies somewhere enjoying my drinks by the beautiful blue ocean. Ok, I'm back from my daydream. Where was I? Oh yeah, the casino...we went to the Tropicana because they also have these new shops. It reminded me of being in Vegas....the ceiling was painted to look like the sky, the shops were ritzy and over-priced, and there was a significant selection of eateries. We ate at an Italian deli and then it was time to make the journey back home. All-in-all it was a great day.
So, my mini vacation days were packed with fun. Now its time to get some rest and get ready for more March Madness!!!!

Division I Basketball History Is Made

Congratulations to Pat Summitt for becoming the winningest coach last night in Div I Basketball. The Tennessee Lady Vols defeated Purdue 75-54 to give Pat her 880th victory(and a Sweet 16 spot in the Tournament)! I was so happy and proud to see such a deserving person gain such a prominent piece of history. Pat Summitt is the consumate leader and teacher. She has her critics, but no one can take away the fact that she knows her sport and knows how to win games. Last night the school named the basketball floor after her. So now when games are played at Thompson-Boling Arena, they will be played on the "Summitt". Isn't that great! I think so.
In other basketball news:
Rutgers beat Temple 61-54 to end Temple's 25-game winning streak, the longest in the country. This is not what I expected. Surely I thought that Temple would win. Rutgers was in the zone and Temple just never got it going. Rutgers was able to shutdown Candice Dupree, holding her to only 11 pts in 39 minutes. Cappie Pondexter just may have been the missing piece to Rutgers' puzzle. See, she didn't play in the first meeting of these two teams in which Temple won. Last night she was just unstoppable...she was hitting 3's, making no-look passes, draining the short-range jumpers, and just plain playing her heart out. She finished with 25 points and 5 steals to give her team a Sweet 16 spot in the Philadelphia region.
Other results:

(1)LSU 76
(9)Arizona 43

(13)Liberty 88
(5)Depaul 79

(3)UConn 70
(6)Fla St 52

(2)OSU 75
(7)Maryland 65

Temple vs Rutgers

I said it, Temple would be playing Rutgers. I just knew it. I knew that both teams would win their opening round games. Temple beat Louisiana Tech 66-61 and Rutgers beat Hartford 62-37. Temple came out nervous and not playing their game at all. I mean they were down by 13 points! Then in the second half they came out and played like the team they are; one with the longest winning streak in the country (men's teams included)at 25 straight games. They found their rhythm...thank goodness. Rutgers on the other hand seemed to have it their way from the beginning. Their defense is something else. Sometimes their offense takes a break, but they are always tough on the defensive end. Now Tuesday night will be tough for me because like I said before, I like both C. Vivian Stringer and Dawn Staley. I will be torn watching them. I want them both to advance in the tournament. Since that can't happen, I am predicting that Temple wins this one. I know that they beat Rutgers earlier in the year and to me it seems like they are a stronger team now than when they played before. I do, however, think that it will be a close game.
I have to mention something about the telecast of the games. I know it is customary to show whichever game is local to your region. However, when Tennessee is playing West Carolina University and Penn State is playing Liberty, I would MUCH rather watch the Tennessee game. I wanted to see Pat Summitt reach a coaching milestone by getting 879 wins.
Forget the fact that I live in the Penn State viewing area. The Tennessee game is a game that I was pyched to watch ALL day...only to be teased with the beginning of the game and then led away to the Penn State game! I feel that the cable providers were lucky that the Penn State game was close and that I remained interested; otherwise I would have turned off the telecast completely and down the ratings would go. Ok, maybe my one little rating would not matter much, but there may have been others out there who felt the same as I did.

2005 Women's NCAA Torunament

Throw up the ball, start the press, set the screens, and score the points! That's all that is needed to get the games going and the right teams winning. I was watching the Tournament Selection shows and it looks like some teams got slighted. For instance, its funny how Temple Lady Owls win their A10 Conference and are made a #6 seed!?!? How is that possible? Seems to me that they should have been ranked higher. At any rate it appears that Temple will play Rutgers because I foresee both of them winning their first game. I will be torn because I like both teams and both coaches.
I think the Final Four in the Women's Bracket will look like this(not necessarily in this order):

LSU

Tennessee

Ohio State

Baylor

My pick to win the whole thing is LSU and Pokey Chatman. They just have too many guns. I don't believe that anyone can truly match up to them. I saw them early in the season when they played Temple and they were impressive to say the least

March Madness Is Upon Us

Well, here it is. The best time of the year for us basketball enthusiasts. March Madness brings together the best of the best. We are inundated with basketball. I love it.
The Tennessee Lady Vols won the SEC tournament and last night the Connecticut Lady Huskies beat Rutgers to win the Big East tournament. Monday night the Temple Lady Owls wrapped up the A10 tournament by beating George Washington.
Now we just have to wait and see how the teams are paired and where they will be playing at the start of the tournament that is known as the "Big Dance."

I just want to see LSU, Tennessee, Rutgers, and Temple be there at the end.

Throw up the ball and let the games begin!

Food Glorious Food

Funny how food brings people together. Sunday night we went to a dinner party in Philly. A friend of ours from Houston was in town. There were 11 people in attendance. People from all different backgrounds and all walks of life. These people were diverse and ecclectic. Something that I realized gets my creative juices flowing.
Upon entering the house, I was told that we were going to indulge in Mexican fare for the evening. I was in my glory as the cook is Mexican! I knew that I would taste things that were beyond my wildest imagination. I must divulge the fact, that Mexican food is quickly becoming my favorite cuisine, although I have never truly had "authentic" Mexican food.....until Sunday night.
We started with home-made guacamole and salsa dips along with chips. Now this guacamole was unlike any I had ever eaten. It was smooth and sensual with a display of sliced tomatoes on top accompanied by a sprig of cilantro. The salsa had fresh tomatoes and onions and was just fabulous. I had to pace myself...I started getting full just from the dips.
We then moved onto salad that had a most intense and delicious dressing. The dressing was made from cilantro and jalepeno peppers. It really spiced up the romaine lettuce. We also had a sort of black bean patty that was surrounding a surprise in the middle..goat cheese! This was set atop a crunchy piece of baggette bread. Black beans have never tasted so good.
The main meal consisted of chili rellenos which were stuffed with either cheese or shrimp. We were able to have our choice and everyone chose to try both. We also had fried rice with carrots and zucchini mixed in, and chicken mole' that we were instructed to put into the warm tortillas. I absolutely loved every bit of this meal.
During the coarse of the meal we were all mixing and mingling and the stories being told were fascinating. We touched on several topics, but the one that remains in my mind is the one about the hairdresser that was present. It remains because the hairdresser was there with her girlfriend and come to find out several people had been to a party that the hairdresser had given, not knowing that it was the same lady. The story about the party was being told and they mentioned a nickname of the lady and she perked up and said, "hey, that's me." Well, the people erupted! They could not believe it was her. And the friend that she came with stated that she could not believe she knew this lady before she actually "knew" her. Funny how small the world is. I was speaking to a teacher who went to see the Gates exhibit with her husband in Central Park. I would loved to have gone to see such an incredible thing.
To top it all off we had home-made flan for dessert with mango slices and raspberries. This really did send the whole evening overboard. Everything was so delicious and superbly prepared. I left there feeling full in more ways than one....my stomach was full of great food and my mind was full of new ideas and an eagerness to take life and run with it. To coin a phrase from one of the guests...the night truly was a "hoot and a holler."

Welcome to Philly

Chris Webber got his "official" welcome to Philly last night. The 76ers lost and he got BOOED!! Hey, being booed in Philly lets you know that you have arrived. Philly fans take their teams seriously. We want to win and we want to win now. Too bad that Chris has only been with us for a couple of games and has not become familiar with the plays, yet. We want instant gratification. Ok, ok, maybe we have to work on our patience, but having not won for so long only makes us want victory that much more and that much faster.
Hang in there, Chris. We love ya, we really do. Just be prepared to show us that we did not make another trade mistake by acquiring you. I can't say that you'll never be booed again, but know that we really are still excited that we have you on our team.

Chris Webber Dealt To The 76ers

AI, CWebb, and Rodney Rogers all on the same team! Yes, the Sixers FINALLY made a great deal. They are on their way to the playoffs as a much stronger and more confident team. They played their first game together last night and although they lost, you could just feel the excitement in the air.
The Wachovia Center was sold out and the fans opened their arms to the man that they call CWebb. You see, Philadelphia fans know a good thig when we see it. We came out strong last night and represented. The game almost had a perfect ending too. Allen missed the second free throw, the rebound comes off long to Chris and he puts up the shot.....the shot misses, but the fact that the last rebound was in the hands of Chris Webber to win the game only speaks volumes of things yet to come.

Got me

Ok, so I was so proud of myself because I had NOT gotten sick this season. That is until this week. The cold got me! Oh no, I knew that something was up. I was at a high school championship basketball game when I realized my throat was a little "scratchy." I ignored it because I refused to think that I was getting sick. By the time the game was over, I had convinced myself that my throat felt that way from all of the screaming and hollering I did, ya know, couldn't hold myself back from the excitement. Besides the referees were awful so I had to start getting loud.
Anyway, that was Sunday and today is Wednesday and each day I have felt a little worse. Last night my ear started aching. Today, I just felt achy all over and now I have a cough and my nose is running! I cannot afford to have a cold. I have been complaining to my family. They all said that I need to gargle and drink some hot tea. Have I done it? Of course not! Its too much fun complaining to them and waiting to see what other concoctions they can come up with for me to try. LOL. We'll see what course this cold takes and how I choose to battle it.

Allen Iverson - All Star MVP

Last night the East finally beat the West again in the NBA All Star game 125-115. I wasn't intending to watch the game. I had the TV on just for background noise as I was reading ESPN the magazine. I looked up several times to see that someone had just slammed or that the West was running a fastbreak. After several times of doing this, I noticed that the game was just that...a game. The score was not a blowout and the teams were actually playing defense.
I though to myself that I had better focus on this game. It could be a good one. Then I heard some of the commentators saying that AI might get the nod for MVP if the East wins. Just then my competitive juices started flowing and I was fully in tuned to the game. Good thing too because Tracy McGrady and Vince Carter (although I am not a fan of his per se) made two incredible plays. Albeit passes to themselves for slam dunks. The only reason I liked it was because you never get to see plays like that except for in these type of situations. I continued to watch and pull for the East. Then the end of the festivities er, uh, I mean game, came and yes, AI was the MVP. Funny, or should I say ironic, how that the last time the East won, AI was MVP then as well. I think he deserved it. Congrats go out to AI. He is really playing the best basketball of his career in my opinion this year. I also must mention that I was proud because he is on my hometown team....LET'S GO Sixers !!!

Eagle Spotting

Went to the Mall today and thought that the parking lot was extremley crowded. Didn't think much of it until I saw the line of people wrapped around the whole side of JC Penney's and Macy's. Now it was freezing out so I was thinking that it must be something important. I saw mothers out there with their kids wrapped in blankets, people camped out in chairs, people eating the usual Mall fare, and of course people just standing there looking like they were frozen in the spot that they were standing in. Then my observation button kicked in.....most of the people had on Eagles gear!!! Hmmmm...must mean that one of the Philadelphia Eagles is there to sign autographs. I am soooo smart!!! Sure enough I spotted Brian Westbrook sitting at a table in one of the sports stores.
Two hours later and he was still signing. He didn't look at all dazed or tired. I would have writer's cramp after all that signing! The sad part is that I think the fans had to pay something to get a ticket to stand in line for his autograph. What happened to the good old days when athletes would sign a piece of paper, a shirt, a pair of sneakers, or whatever the fan had with him or her at the time (my Dad once had Charles Barkley sign a five dollar bill because that was all he could get his hands on at the time)? Does everything have to cost money?????

Changes

As you can see, I changed the template. I hope LeBron James enters the dunk contest. I heard earlier that he was thinking about not doing it. I think he could display some good dunks and give the others a run for their money. Of course no one can do it like they did it back in the day...the days with Dr J. and Michael Jordan and let me go waaaaaayyyyy back, remember when Dominque Wilkins was throwing down the dunks!! Oh, yes! Those were the days.

Since Kyle Korver is the hometown boy representing in the 3-point contest, I am pulling for him. Although I think that he might have some problems. I noticed that he shoots better when he is on the run...seems that his release is more consistent when he has to shoot quickly, not just set and shoot as is customary in the 3-point contest. Oh well, he still has my vote.

Watched Charles Barkley last night on Jay Leno. Charles is and always has been my boy. I remember EXACTLY where I was when he was traded.....sitting in my livingroom in the rocking chair staring at the paper in disbelief. If someone walked into my house at that very moment they would have sworn that someone close to me had died! I know, I know, that is a bit dramatic now that I look back on it, but hey, like I said he was and still is my boy! Looked good on Jay Leno last night, too.

Well, let me go see what games are on. I'll check ESPN and ESPN2 for some college games. Oh, Tennessee lost to LSU. I wasn't really upset either because they are both my teams. I will be rooting for both of them in the tournament. I must add though, that I believe LSU has the edge because they go on spurts where they are just unstoppable. I love it! They are definitely exciting to watch.

Heck no...

I did NOT go back outside to fix that drain pipe! Well, not right away anyway. It was too cold out and besides I got caught up reading other blogs. Plus, the phone rang several times. Why do people call when I am online? Why does my cell phone seem to only ring when I am on the house phone? Anyway, my Mom stopped by and I showed her the pipe.....hehehe, you should have seen her with the broom handle trying to fix it. I was in the window screaming that she needed to jump and hit the pipe. Then I felt bad so I got the chair and went out and fixed it. What a day!

The 76ers are losing! Come on guys...what's the deal? Maybe because I am not watching it. I am keeping track of the score on ESPN. Well, I think I've said enough for today.
Later!!

Rain, Pain, and that darn Drain!

Well, here I sit after some drama that happened this afternoon. I was doing some research on the Internet when I decided to go get some Mexican food. I noticed earlier that it was raining, but didn't think anything of it except that I should hurry up and venture out while it was still light outside. Anyway, I went downstairs and heard what sounded like water pouring down the side fof the house. Hmm, it must be raining hard, I thought to myself. I proceeded to get my jacket and sneakers on.
When I got outside, it was pouring!! I had no umbrella and nothing covering my head. I looked to the side of the house and saw this water spilling off the side of the roof to the porch. I looked up and sure enough the drain pipe had been blown off of the side so that now the water was just pouring onto the sidewalk and then down towards my neighbor's grass. Uh oh, I thought, I need to get that drain pipe back onto the roof. I went to get the snow shovel and used that to jump up and maneuver that pipe back to the roof.
Well, I forgot that I have this achilles tendon injury and when I landed back on my feet, I was in severe pain! OUCH! I looked up and the drain pipe was still hanging over. I go back in the house to get a chair and come back outside, stand on the chair, hit the pipe back in place and then at that point, I realize that not only am I in pain, but I am soaking wet and my finger is bleeding! What else could happen?!?!
As I am entering the house with the chair I bang the storm door hitting the glass and think, Oh great, I just broke the glass with the chair! But, it sounded worse than it was and thank God I didn't do any damage. I stood on the porch, and looked down at myself and thought that I should just stay home....forget the Mexican food. Hmph! No way! I went through all that and now I really felt the need to treat myself. I was getting the food!
Funny thing is that at this point, before I went back outside, I picked up my umbrella and proceeded out to the car as if nothing happened and as if I was not wet at all. LOL!!! I think someone may have seen me outside and thought that I looked like a complete idiot. Who cares? So, I ate my food and enjoyed every last grain of rice and every last bit of salsa. Mission accomplished...or so I thought!
I just looked out the window and the darn drain is off the roof once again! I will not go out there.....no, I refuse!!! Ok, wait, I'll have to write more.....right when I come back from fixing the drain pipe....at least I don't think its raining anymore. :0) Oh, by the way, can't wait to watch the Sixers tonight. Allen Iverson has been putting on a show. 60 points the other night! Simply amazing!!

Ramblings

Today I just feel like writing. Nothing specific, just me rambling on. I went into Philly on the train today and it was an adventure. See, I am not one to remember which trains to take and which track I need to be on to board the next train. Why would I remember when my friend is always there to guide me? I just never felt the need to pay attention. Well, today I was by myself and HAD to pay attention. I told myself that it would be ok. That I would not get lost. My friend had told me what number train to get on at what time. But then she had to make it more complicated for me and tell me that I would need to switch trains! Why?! I need to be able to stay on the same train for the duration of my journey....I can't be held responsible for looking at the electronic schedule to see which track I am supposed to be on. What, do these train people think that I am some sort of "daily train passenger?" I mean, come on, the last time I took the train I stayed on the same one. Oh, but wait, that was during the week. Ok, so now what? You mean to tell me that on the weekend things are different? Oh, please, give me a break!!!
So ok, I made my connecting train...whew!!! Oh no, did the lady sitting next to me just ask me if the train was going to North Broad???!! WTF??!!! Does she know that she is talking to a non-train riding individual?!! Doesn't it show on my face? I looked at her and said that I had no idea! Uh oh, some guy just woke up and told her that she was on the wrong train! Whew, at least I was on the right train! Now listen to me acting all billy bad a**!!
I made it! I got off the train and there is my friend screaming that I made it. I didn't get lost!!! YIPPEE!! Hey, I think to myself, this train thing is not at all that bad. :)

In Due Time

Went to the Philadelphia Auto Show yesterday and it was great. Saw Shaq's Escalade. I think the speakers in the back were bigger than me. I actually went because I wanted to see what type of SUV I would want to buy. You see, the Jetta is hanging in there, but I know she is only giving me time until I can get another vehicle. She has been good to me, but I know she is gettin' tired. LOL!! Anyway, I saw several cars that I liked at the show. I most definitely like the Xterra, but they had the nerve to have the truck ropped off. How the heck am I supposed to evaluate a car behind some stupid ropes?!?
At any rate, I was able to get into the MDX, the Pathfinder, the BMW X5 and the Mazda Tribute. I liked them all and would absolutely like to have the BMW.
The luxury cars were fantastic....my favorite....the 745li. All I can say is.....In Due Time. I will have this car. I love it, looked good in it (as told to me by my sister), and felt like the car should be mine, or shall I say, WILL be mine.

We are still Proud

The Eagles are still our team! We love what the boys did throughout the season. Our hearts go out to them and we know that they will be back next year. The countdown to Detroit has begun! Since I am a little tired, that is all I have to say right now. Oh yeah, the next big game for me is on Thursday, Tennessee vs. LSU. This is going to be a showdown. Stay tuned.

We all have our weak moments

Well, I did it...I broke down and bought the t-shirt....from the grocery store! I tell ya what though...I wore that grocery store bought shirt today with PRIDE!!!! You should see all of the people around here showing their Eagles spirit. It is GREAT!!! Well, after we win the Superbowl and party, I will write about other sports on here and also about other dilemmas I may have. Until then, I have to go and get ready for the big game. The funny thing is that we couldn't find exactly what we were looking for so we came back empty handed. My Mom was looking for Eagles earrings to wear with my Eagles Superbowl jersey that she is going to borrow for tomorrow. Her whole office is getting dressed up for the Superbowl. I have a feeling that she is going to try to keep the jersey all weekend and then I won't be able to wear it for the game. Oh well.....my Mom is funny. She gets all into the games and the teams when it gets all serious. She was singing the Eagles song to me earlier! She could care less what happens throughout the season, but come crunch time...she's there pulling for the home team. Gotta love her!
I was looking for one of those black t-shirts with the Eagle on it and the word "One", but the stores I went to didn't have it. I heard that they had them at the local grocery store, but I just refuse to buy it there. Something just doesn't seem right about buying a t-shirt at the grocery store. Call me crazy, but I will NOT get it there!

Too lazy to think of a title...

I could stay on here all day and read people's blogs. Some of them are extremely interesting. I was just thinking that the world is full of fascinating people. Read a blog called "In My Write Mind" and the guy was talking about the Live Strong wristband. Very interesting since I wear one of those bands. His take was that he vowed to Live Strong. What a concept. We should all do the same and live our lives to the fullest and fufill our purpose in life. Are some people aware of the fact that they just "exist" and don't live to their full potential? Well, as they say, I am "going to ride this until the wheels fall off." I am vowing to enjoy every moment!

GO EAGLES!!!!!

Well, I'm bored so I decided to blog a little. First let me say: "E-A-G-L-E-S, EAGLES!!!! Go Eagles. This place is going crazy over the Eagles. Can't say I blame them.

I'm listening to the radio thinking that I should really go out and invest in an Ipod. I am tired of listening to the same music over and over and the DJ is getting on my last nerve! Shut up already, ok??? Don't you think that they just like to hear themselves talk sometimes? Wait, I have to get up to change the station....I CAN'T take it!!!!

Ok, I'm back. Sorry for the ramblings on, but like I said earlier, I am BORED!!!! I spent the majority of my day in the bookstore today, which seems to be somewhat of a hobby for me lately. I just love to sit in the cafe with my books and veg out. It is so relaxing to me. Besides, you never know who you are going to meet. The other day I was trying to force myself to leave (something that I have to do often, otherwise I'd live there) and this older lady comes up to me and says, "Don't you just love all of the books?" Of course I was in my glory to hear that someone loved the bookstore as much as me. Well, to my amazement she just happened to be a retired English teacher. Guess what?! English was my favorite subject in High School. She was so flattered to hear that. You should have seen the smile on her face. I was happy too, because she reminded me of being in school. Gosh, I miss those days!

AHHH!!! Good thing I changed the radio station...they are playing one of my songs...Prince's Call My Name! Oh, I love this song. It is so sensual.

One more thing...last night I learned that Samuel L. Jackson modeled his coaching after Pat Summitt for his movie Coach Carter. I told you Pat Summitt was the bomb!

Tennessee Lady Vols!!!

Last night's t.v. was great. Tennessee vs Georgia. Tennessee wins 77-70! Awesome. They are the cream of the crop in the SEC. Pat Summitt knows how to keep her team motivated and strong. Not so good is that they lost Loree Moore who suffered a broken nose. However, that didn't stop the team. They looked absolutely unstoppable after their player went down. Next up for Tennessee, LSU on Feb 10th. Can't wait!!!!
Another great thing about t.v. last night... 76ers beat Indiana 89-88 on a great off-balance shot by Kyle Korver. 76ers look good and are now in firts place in the Atlantic division.

Can't believe I did it...

I absolutely HATE going to the movies! I mean for me, it just seems like a waste of time. I could be watching a game or at a game, reading a book, writing, you name it, I could be doing it. Anything but going to the movies. But then they have to go and make a movie revolving around sports, like Coach Carter. Well, you guessed it, I went to the movies!!! UGH!! First, I had to keep telling myself that it wasn't really a movie, just another basketball game on the big screen. LOL!!!! To my amazement I truly enjoyed the movie. I didn't even feel like I wasted 2 hours of my life. I even came home and recommended the movie to my parents. Funny, me, telling someone to go to the movies. I hope this isn't the start of something new for me....nah, I will not be going to any other movie anytime soon. Unless of course they go and make another real-life sports movie. Hahahaha.

Talk of the town

Just came back from dinner. Made sure the waiter sat me at a booth facing the tv screen since the Australian Open was on. Can't miss sports just cause I gotta eat.
My friend and I are so excited about the Eagles being in the Superbowl! Right now that is the talk of the east coast town. To T.O. or not to T.O. also seems to be a major topic. I say don't play because he could jeopardize his career. Also, why mess with a good thing? They have been ok these past couple of weeks without him. Don't get me wrong, I love me some T.O., but I would not want him to do more damage to his ankle. Wonder what others think????

Cool

I like the way this works. Good to see that people are interested in women's sports as well. Pat Summit and C. Vivian Stringer are my favorite coaches and most admired by me. LSU is fast becoming another of my favorite teams as well. My favorite athletes are: 1. Charles Barkley 2. Seimone Augusus 3. Dawn Staley 3. Allen Iverson. 4. Jevon Kearse. Not always in this order, BUT Charles remains at number ONE....ALWAYS!!!
